Rhenium is a heavy transition refractory metal with a melting point of 3,180°C and has the highest modulus of elasticity of all the refractory metals (420 GPa). Rhenium and rhenium containing alloys are unique with high melting points, high moduli of elasticity and excellent high temperature mechanical properties. The most common rhenium containing alloys are molybdenum 41% rhenium (Mo41%Re) and molybdenum 47.5% rhenium (Mo-47.5%Re).
Rhenium (symbol Re), discovered in 1925 by German scientists Ida and Walter Noddack, is one of the last naturally occurring elements to be identified. Rhenium has a uniquely high melting point (3,180°C) and high density (21.04 g/cc). Products from rhenium can be thermally cycled thousands of times with no effects.
Rhenium Alloys is a global leader in providing Rhenium chemicals required by manufacturers for critical parts and components. They are widely used in the production of high density, high temperature parts for aerospace, defense, energy and X-ray device industries.
We supply three standard powders, Rhenium, Molybdenum-Rhenium and Tungsten-Rhenium.
Rhenium Powder is available with a choice of purity grades, 99.99% and 99.9% pure. Mesh sizes include -200, -325 and -635 mesh. Custom sizes available on request.
We’re uniquely able to convert ammonium perrhenate, or virtually any form of rhenium-bearing material, into pellets. Rhenium pellets are offered in two purity grades, 99.99% and 99.9% pure on a metals basis, and can be tailored to meet any specification. Rhenium Pellets are a key alloying addition in Ni-base superalloys for turbines in jet engines. Rhenium Pellets are also widely used in chemical vapor deposition reactors.
Rhenium Alloys has the cutting edge technology and expertise to deliver exactly what you need. We’re uniquely able to convert ammonium perrhenate, or virtually any form of rhenium-bearing material, into powder, pellets, and even perrhenic acid. We offer the highest purity APR to suit any specification.
Rhenium Alloys offers Rhenium and Molybdenum-Rhenium in plate, sheet, foil and ribbon.
For over 45 years, Rhenium Alloys has been delivering high performance refractory metals to customers who desire an alloy that can withstand extreme temperatures and harsh environments.
One source, superior quality and the expertise to meet the growing demands in high performance high temperature materials. With a proven track record of satisfied customers around the world, Rhenium Alloys is the expert in Rhenium and Molybdenum-Rhenium plate, sheet and foil manufactured products.
Rhenium Alloys provides a wide range of wire products to serve applications in major electronics products, thermocouples, high temperature furnace parts, and welding requirements.
Our Rhenium Wire is 99.99% pure and has high strength and excellent ductility. Molybdenum-47.5%-Rhenium Wire is used in welding, electronics and wire mesh grids for the space industries. Tungsten-Rhenium Wire is a staple in thermocouples and electronics products. Tungsten Wire, with its very high tensile strength even at a very small diameter, is widely used for thermocouples, electronic devices, and lighting.
Rhenium Wire compositions are available in a full range of sizes (as small as .008”) to meet your requirements.
One of the few producers in the Americas with this capability, Rhenium Alloys is proud to offer the following flat wire products.
Types of Flat Wire
Secondary Operations
Pure Rhenium Rod (99.99% pure), offers high ductility and strength, designed for various applications such as satellite positioning nozzles, aerospace propulsion components and other demanding parts that must withstand extreme thermal shock, high temperature and stress applications.
Only Rhenium Alloys delivers ultra-pure grades of Rhenium Ribbon, both commercial and zone refined. Our commercial grade Rhenium Ribbon is 99.99% and our zone refined ribbon is 99.995% pure on a metallic content basis. Both grades may be ordered in either random lengths or specific cut lengths to customer specifications. Rhenium Ribbon is widely used in mass spectrometers and in many major electronics applications.
Rhenium Alloys are experts in manufacturing Rhenium starting bars. We produce Rhenium bars from the raw material APR (Ammonium Perrhenate) starting powder through to the finished product. A Rhenium Bar can be rolled down to customer specifications – to as low as .001" in thickness, and widths that can range up to 7" wide.
